After dropping the burn-in chambers in Austin, we go empty to El Paso to move a computer room to their home office near Nashville. We wanted to work right up until Christmas and we will most likely get our wish! There is a team load for a trade show from PA straight to Vegas, but we need to get from Nashville to PA.
We get a room for a couple of nights to relax while the office looks for something to move us northeast. There might be some general freight that needs a team from Indiana to Massachusetts. It seems the closer it gets to Christmas, the fewer trucks are out here and the more the rate goes up. We got more money from the trip from El Paso to Nashville because they couldn’t find any other logistics team and now we are getting $2.50 (which is a lot for regular junk) for general freight because they need a team. Our load that will get us to Vegas is for a tradeshow, it’s running late, but it still has to be there when the show starts. We might be driving over Christmas, but we’re going to take the next two weeks off when we do make it home.
Then it will be time to get to Orlando to move that tradeshow from Orlando to San Diego. This is our biggest paying load and we’re now committed to it four times a year. A 2400 mile trip in 48 hours. It’s a lot of work, but we had a lot of fun too. We met a couple on the last trip that we still keep in contact with. Since this happens twice a year we will see them again on the next trip.
