NOT!!! I don’t mind going into the city once in awhile, but I try not to make it a habit. The main problem I have with New York City, besides the tolls and traffic is that it’s a really bad place to get lost in a truck with all the tight corners and low bridges. I’ve got the same problems with Philadelphia too. Most of the big cities on the east coast can be really bad to get lost in.

After being stuck for more than an hour waiting for Yankee game traffic at the GW Bridge going north, as we’re crossing the bridge a truck is disabled in the middle lane going south with waterfall of coolant dumping out. Funny while sad at the same time, kind of moments, especially after sitting in our own traffic jam for an hour.

Finally we get to our delivery. A small private school down a small road in the woods with an even smaller parking lot back to the dock. It was so bad I parked and walked down the road to the school to check out the situation.  After being told that, "big trucks get back here all the time!", I walk back to the truck, thinking to myself, "yeah, a day cab and a 48 foot at the most, all the time!"

I get back there and now it’s, "That’s the biggest truck I’ve ever seen back here!" I get all the help in backing I can stand! But they do move the cars that were in the way.

Then we drove out to Long Island. I’m not thrilled about Long Island either, but the pick-up looks easy to get to and they say they have parking we can spend the night in. Which is a really big help in this part of the country. We even drop the trailer for a bit to go to the grocery store and we’ll go back through the city and head to the Macy’s store in Lexington, KY.

The new truck pictures are done and uploaded here and under Photo Albums on the side.
