Side Door Unloading,
originally uploaded by Adventures In Trucking.
This is a load for a golf tournament in Norton, Mass. There were two flatbed trucks and myself. The only way to unload all of this was with these forklifts. Using a strap and pulling pallets and crates across the floor toward a door. Without the side doors they would have dragged this stuff all the way to the end. This trailer is still setup perfectly for what we do. Everywhere we go, the people loading and unloading the trailer love it, but I don’t think it has gotten as much (good) repeat business as I would have liked.
Sometimes I think a modified regular freight trailer would have been better. Because we haven’t been able to take advantage of the extra space as much as I would have liked. Plus we would have more opportunities at other companies with a regular trailer in case this doesn’t work out. But I still think this works really well being low to the ground and when there is an opportunity for the extra space, we’ll be ready.
After this I picked up two loads, one in New York and a little extra in Iowa, all destined for Southern Cal next week.
We are in Minnesota for a few days to visit family and get the truck worked on. Minnesota is a little out of the way, but I needed the truck worked on and the dealer in Sauk Rapids is the only place I trust to do anything more than an oil change.
Even with the extra distance, these two loads pay okay, plus with a little time off with Cindy’s family we will be ready to work the rest of the month and next and the next and the next.
