McCain spoke to the National Small Business Summit. It was a major contrast from Obama’s speech about the economy. Obama wants to take money from the rich and give it to the poor. McCain wants to give businesses a break so they can invest in equipment and resources. Lowering the Corporate tax rate from the 2nd highest in the world to something more reasonable to help keep jobs, especially manufacturing jobs here in America. The tax rate is only one piece of that puzzle, labor prices play a big role in that decision, but maybe with energy costs the way they are, maybe it would be cheaper to build something in America ship it a thousand miles away on a truck, instead of thousands of miles on ships.
Sounds like McCain is back to the old Republican values of cutting spending, cutting taxes and encouraging business. At least that how he sounded in front of a small business conference.
A CNN Analyst commenting on McCain’s speech about the economy said he didn’t really address the economy issues for regular people. Regular people depend on their jobs for their economy, not the government. Obama wants people to depend on him, the government. Obama’s speech pandered to poor people, McCain’s speech pandered to business for a change. But with a mostly Democratic Congress, McCain is going to have a tough job unless he stays on message and brings some other conservative Republicans to Washington with him.
