After spending the night at customs because the paperwork we were issued wasn’t right, we finally delivered a bunch of office furniture to downtown Toronto on Saturday. We found a truck stop right on Lake Ontario and were able to drop the trailer and bobtail to Niagara Falls for the day. Here are some pictures and if the upload works, a short movie from our new camcorder, here for the youtube movie.

We delivered some furniture to Harrah’s casino in Biloxi, MS. Almost one year after Katrina and Biloxi looks like it happened yesterday. The coastline is still a disaster, but as you move inland the damage is less and less. About a half mile from the coast and you can’t tell anything happened. BTW, this isn’t Harrah’s, but here’s more pictures of fallen buildings and the coastline. It was a little spooky driving around town seeing only foundations in some places. A lot of people living in travel trailers next to their foundations while they rebuild and probably a lot of the construction workers living in trailers too.

The skyline from our tour boat on the Inner Harbor. The day we were there the Volvo Ocean Race was in port. It’s a sailboat race around the world. I think it’s mainly to push the new line of Volvo cars in an exhibit. We got on the one hour cruise that took us out to Fort McHenry and back. There are water taxi’s, lunch cruises, dinner cruises to tour the water and buses that tour the downtown area. The inner harbor is really nice with shops and restaurants, museums like the Science Center and the National Aquarium. We had little crab cakes and shrimp for lunch in the food court instead of one of the spendy restaurants. I lived in Maryland a long time ago before the city redid the Inner Harbor, they did a fantastic job, it’s really a neat place to visit. Here are the rest of the pictures, merged in with our DC trip.

A little boring as we are staying in the truck for a few days while waiting for our freight that we delivered to Texas A&M on Wednesday morning.  We will be returning it to California after we reload on Saturday.  Since trucking has been slow we are not looking for a hotel to park the truck.  We will stay in the truck and take lots of walks with Willie. 

We found a Mexican Restaurant next door and we had some strawberry margaritas and dinner.  I wish we would have brought the TV and some DVD’s but books, word puzzles and playing solitaire helps me with my day.  Wayne has been working on this editing and writing on the new site he has been hired at “Life on the Road“. 

Next week we will be in Minnesota for my nephew/godson’s Wedding.  We will be staying with my daughter and her family and Willie will even have a playmate.  She has a Boston Terrier named Zsa-Zsa.  I will try to get pictures of the two playing if we can get them to hold still for a moment.

Next to the Westin Hotel unloading sound and video equipment for some kind of show or conference. Notice, I’m NOT in the picture. Two teamsters inside the trailer and stage hands waiting at the tail to take equipment off and roll it inside the hotel. I hate driving downtown anywhere, but it is more of a challenge than the interstate and keeps things interesting! This time went pretty well both inbound and outbound and I went straight to my next load in Burlingame. Here are a few pictures of the Bay Bridge and a couple more downtown.

I’m in Kansas now waiting to get some “bonus” freight and then drive like heck to San Jose on my way back home to pick Cindy up.

After visiting family, it’s always nice to get back into our own routine. We might have a load tomorrow and we may not. But our home truck is back from the shop and ready to get back to work.

We had a blast with the kids at the BMX races in Isanti, there were older kids and really older kids racing. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a lot of fun.

Willie was a handful with a house full of kids, another dog and a cat. He was a blast to watch, when he wasn’t being bad. We would be in the yard and he can run so fast, when he turns he tumbles over or slides on his side. He definitely a tease when it came to the other dog. We could have ten bones on the ground, but both dogs would fight over the same one. If Willie had it, he would tease the other one by getting close to the other dog with the bone in his mouth until the little Boston Terrier would start chasing him, which is what he wanted. I left the movie camera in the truck and we didn’t get any pictures of the two of them because they wouldn’t stand still long enough in the same place.

We are back in the truck and at a truck stop next to I-94 waiting for orders! They changed one of our favorite independent truck stops into a Petro 2. Hopefully the restaurant and the bakery are still the same.

On our way from New York to Seattle. I90 from western Montana to Seattle has got to  be the most scenic Interstate. It’s a toss up between this and I70 in Colorado and Utah. Here’s a link to a few of our photos in Montana, Idaho and Washington.

Today we were going to find a UPS box and see a movie, instead the directions for the closest UPS box led us to Celebration, FL. the town built by Disney. The houses and the town square look like it came out of the little town from the Truman Show. Everything was perfect. Perfect lawns, perfect houses, everything. We ate outisde at the Columbian restaurant, then sat in the rocking chairs next to the lake and enjoyed the sun. We didn’t get around to a movie but driving around the town seemed like we were in a movie!
Electric Vehicles are encouraged in Celebration, the dog is in the passenger seat with his seat belt on, of course!

I realized I hadn’t put our Alaska pictures online since I moved Adventures in Trucking to it’s new home. I was going to split them and get them organized a little, but they would never get up here.

There are 44 pictures, some of British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska all from the Alcan Highway and back. Anchorage, Whittier, where we took a tour of the glaciers and our fishing trip from Homer. For those new to Adventures we took a load of store fixtures to Anchorage back in July 2005.

It was the most incredible trip we’ve ever had. The Alcan is not an easy road and even harder in a big truck. Next time we’re taking the ferry!

We loaded the Marvel Comic Exhibit at the California Science Center in Los Angeles and took it to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL. Next week we might be loading it in Chicago and taking it to Boston. I don’t have a picture of the actual exhibit because we’ve only seen it in the crates! Here are a few pictures of the rose garden next to the LA Science center and a few pictures around the Chicago museum. I found the website for the Science Center and the exhibit and the dates cover the time it’s gone. So, we must only have the travelling portion. I’ll have to check when we pick it up in Chicago. Here are the rest of the pictures.
