Investing in Diseased Livestock

Dilbert is the only comic I read on a regular basis. I usually get flashbacks from my time in the corporate world, but there is more to the strip than just office humor. It always amazes me how really smart people can be so stupid. I’m not really that smart so it never surprises me when I do something stupid, I expect it. Maybe it wasn’t really stupidity, it was more like gambling on a game of Old Maid. The last one holding the bad card loses. Except the joke was on us.

I haven’t really quit Bohamian yet, they gave me a short trip from near where I was in PA to Albany, NY. Paid pretty well for general freight, the short hauls usually do. So I’m not too far away and it breaks up the long week and it’s a little extra cash. I decided to go back to PA and on my way back, my friend that recommended me for the new company was going through PA on his way to Pittsburgh to move a trailer. We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Petro near Scranton, PA and I helped him [...More...]

The Longest Week Ever

Has just started. I’m sitting in PA getting rained on with snow on the way. Too bad I’m between semesters I could have taken three more classes and had them all done this week. The trailer is dropped so I could find something to do, but I’m trying to save money too. A room would be a waste, I can lay down in the bed and be on the internet just as easy in the truck as a hotel room. I’m at the truck stop and I stopped by Wal-Mart the other day and stocked up, so the refrigerator is [...More...]

I took a load from Vegas to Lexington, KY. I don’t know what the next plan is so I sit again. A week after the “big meeting” with the boss and dispatcher, I’m not real sure if anything has changed. I still think it was a good idea to wait till after the holidays and I only need a couple good trips or a lot of bad ones to pay the bills that I have to. More would be good to get the credit cards down to a manageable level, but the bills are paid. A couple of changes are [...More...]

Time for Pirates!

All the election and economy news got you down? Have you turned off all the news channels or ripped out your satellite dish, but you still want news? How about pirates, Iran and Moussad spy stuff for a change of pace? One of the podcasts I download on a regular basis is a talk show from KFI in Los Angeles. Bryan Suits is an Iraq War Veteran. He has a regular talkshow during the week, but on Sundays he goes into his “dark secret place” and talks about the war, foreign policy, the war on terrorism and the military. plus [...More...]

I”m back out on the road again. Still taking classes online, finished the Network+ prep class with an A. Now I need to actually go take the test and get certified while I still remember stuff. The A+ certification looks like it’s in more demand if you go to sites like monster.com, but I had to take the class anyway and the college gives a discount voucher for taking the class, so might as well get the certification. Maybe I can stack my resume full of certifications with no experience? After I finish and get the A+ certification in December [...More...]

Adventures in Rowing

August 12th, 2008 Day 79: All In The Mind “The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, and a hell of heaven.” (John Milton) A lot of people were mystified why, having survived but not enjoyed one ocean crossing, I would want to do another. Starts the 79th day of Roz Savage’s attempt to become the first woman to row across the Pacific. This is the first of three stages that will last three years and finish in Australia. She’s already rowed across the Atlantic and is currently between San Francisco and Hawaii. [...More...]

I’ve been using Jott.com for over a week and it is SO COOL! If I’m listening to something on the radio while I’m driving, I speed dial Jott and jott “self” and speak whatever I want to remember for later, even set a reminder. I’ve got my Jott setup with my Google Calendar so if I want something on my calendar, I jott “calendar” and the event is set in my Google calendar. I can also Jott a blog post. Haven’t tried that yet, but I have sent a Jott to Twitter. When Jott sends something to Twitter, it also [...More...]

Another Change for Adventures in Trucking

A new direction, maybe. I haven’t decided yet. I could make a brand new site for all of my political rants or just keep using this one. Because trucking is so integrated with the economy and the economy now has a bunch of idiots running it, that aren’t supposed to be running it. I believe the more the government gets involved the worse it gets and they are getting more and more involved in the markets and they have no idea what they are doing, which makes the people that do know what they’re doing, really nervous. Which causes the [...More...]

The text in the post is completely serious in between photos and videos of men doing the most incredibly stupid stuff. It makes you wonder how we’ve survived as species. Why Women Live Longer than Men Check it out.
