Dr. Randy Pausch is Computer Science Professor at Carnegie Mellon. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2006. In his lecture he talks about achieving childhood dreams. He’s still alive thanks to chemo and other drugs but it has only delayed the inevitable. He keeps up his daily blog when he can. This video has been seen over six million times. The video was taped when doctors gave him three to six months of good health. Many people are saying that watching this video has changed their lives. It’s not a sad video. His goal is to have fun every [...More...]

Big Foot might be real. A couple Big Foot Hunters found a dead Big Foot body in the woods of north Georgia. They are having a press conference today to show pictures and DNA evidence. Why not have the at the press conference? Something doesn’t seem quite right. A press conference for a Big Foot find with only pictures. The Big Foot Hunters say there were other Big Foots close by and aren’t disclosing the exact location to protect the other Big Foots. I’ve been hearing about Big Foot since the famous blurred picture of a giant BIg Foot walking [...More...]
In-between the news about the bailout or not, the debate or not, I found this piece about Cindy McCain. It’s incredible the amount of charity work she has started and is very involved with. Not just on the boards but actually hands on in the trenches doing the work. It also mentions how her father made his fortune after Cindy was born. So she wasn’t really brought up rich but grew into it. Cindy McCain: Polished look to many, but her focus is on others BY TINA LAM • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER • September 21, 2008 As a volunteer [...More...]

This is great for people that are sitting around with plenty of time on their hands and love to read. Go to Go Read Green and sign up for a free online magazine subscription from a list of 16 mainstream publications. You need a different email for each subscription, but how hard is that? You can download the magazine to take with you or browse online. The magazine reader is from zinio.com and is an exact replica of the magazine. This is probably not interesting to anyone but me. Living in Las Vegas your surrounded by the ongoing history of the area. Everything from Hoover Dam to the constant building, demolition and rebuilding of the entire city. In order to get a degree in Nevada, a class on the Nevada constitution or a class on Nevada history is a requirement. Cindy did her Nevada history class, I’ve always found the history of almost anything and anywhere really interesting. This video is from 8mm film and taken from a 15 year old kid who is now 50 and does the narration [...More...]
Oh well. My favorite line from this story – “Bigfoot” fails DNA test Biscardi said the DNA samples may not have been taken correctly and may have been contaminated, and that he would proceed with an autopsy of the alleged Bigfoot remains, currently in a freezer at an undisclosed location. Maybe next time.
I’m picking up next week in Boston to head to LA. West, finally! Three thousand miles, the first decent trip I’ve had in months. I feel like finishing in two days, but probably won’t, maybe three, then head home. I’m looking for an audiobook for the long trip. I don’t listen to audiobooks while I sit around, too many distractions and I should be doing something productive. I’ve always wanted to read Atlas Shrugged and now the new book I’ve heard a lot about Daemon. One is about the struggle between capitalism and socialism and the other is about computers [...More...]

Last weekend I went to the truck show. I had forgotten all about it until I was driving by and saw the free truck parking, on my way to “give” my trailer back to Kentucky. The Kentucky agent I bought it through may have someone to take over the payments if all the little dents are taken out and the floor is redone. It’s not a household trailer, never has been a household trailer and it’s taken some abuse from idiot forklift drivers and tradeshow crates and cases being pushed and dragged across the floor. It was kind of a [...More...]
It’s been a little more than a month at the new company, which isn’t really very long. It seems like a long time, but honestly, it’s too soon to tell. There are some good things and there are a few things that bug me. I can say that about any company and any job too. On my way to downtown Chicago to pick up a show. One of the more interesting things is driving a big truck downtown anywhere. It’s actually pretty cool and more of a challenge than just driving down the interstate. Then it’s on to the frozen [...More...]
