Doggie Downers

I listen to too much radio. Not just radio, but news and talk radio. Music channels on XM and Sirius are commercial free, I think they make up for it on news and talk channels. There’s one commercial that starts out with a child screaming the dog keeps jumping on her. The mom says, “People stare at us like we can’t control our dog.” Take a pill, not you, the dog. Now there’s Valium for dogs. Calm your dog for those special occasions or feed your dog a pill every day to keep him calm. Willie gets wild, but usually [...More...]

Too Long Gone

I’m still alive. I did make it home for a week and am now back on the road. Six weeks is too long to be away from home. I start getting tired. Not sleepy tired, more like – sick and tired. Everything and everyone start pissing me off for no reason. It’s not like I didn’t have enough ‘downtime’. Had plenty of time to sit around, always had plenty of time to sleep. Just sick and tired is the best way I can explain it. I was glad to be home for a week. I planned on doing taxes while [...More...]

Crime Scene Las Vegas

Crime Scene Las Vegas We woke up to this violent crime scene in our living room. Bear guts everywhere, his squeaker had been ripped out through his chest. We’re waiting for CSI to arrive. Surveillance A suspect is caught on tape. Awaiting Bond It’s Christmas Willie was released on his own recognizance and given another chance with another Christmas present., originally uploaded by Adventures In Trucking.

Waiting, Waiting...

I now have a load going to California, but it doesn’t load until Tuesday. It’s a hurry up and get there. I topped off the fuel tanks today so I don’t have to mess with that for a few days. I left the Petro in Bordentown to go south fifty miles to get fuel in southern New Jersey. Fuel at the Petro was $3.68 and fifty miles away is $3.139. Even though I have to back-track to go north to Pennsylvania it was worth it. Plus, that Idleaire thing gets expensive at about $1.50 an hour it adds up. At [...More...]

Being almost busy didn’t last long. After going through Queens and Long Island (I love this part of the country! No, really!) Me and Willie are settled in at the Petro in New Jersey. A really large lot with Idleaire. Some Idleaire locations have free electric, so trucks with shore power (like mine) can plug in and it’s free. So, I have heat, TV and microwave without idling the truck or even the generator. It is pay to park so I will have to pay something to get out of here. Petro is the worse chain of truckstops that allow [...More...]

More Willie

Willie loves to look out the window every time the truck slows down. In traffic he likes to look down at the cars going by. It’s really hilarious. People point and stare, he loves the attention.

Willie in Rhode Island

Originally uploaded by Adventures In Trucking We’re at the only 24 hour truck stop in Rhode Island. It’s pay to park, but there’s a big field we go for walks and throw sticks. The yellow rope is so I can catch Willie when I need to. He likes to get close, then jump away when you try and pick him up. The rope helps and it’s light enough he can still run around. Tomorrow we pick up a tradeshow in Boston and head back west to Arizona. Not sure if we can make it to Vegas or not. Kind of [...More...]

What seemed like a very long time to me finally came to an end, Thursday evening. Wayne and Willie are home and it’s great to have them with me again. I will have homework to read and papers due in class not to mention I work M-F. I only work part-time for now, but twice a week I work full days. It is fun to watch Willie play and how much better he listens to Wayne. He will be 1 yr old, September 28th, and still a very curious puppy. I had some of Wayne’s shirts and pants that I [...More...]

I was going to title this something like “Waiting Again”, but I’m sure I’ve used that at least once or twice. But it’s true, we (me and Willie) are waiting again.  I’m starting to get jealous of Cindy’s staying home getting to study and so tired of the idiotic, inconsiderate, filthy animals out here, along with the traffic and crap in general. After driving all night to deliver mail from Indianapolis to Atlanta, I have to wait till Wednesday to pick up a tradeshow going back to Henderson, NV when I can put the truck in the shop and spend [...More...]
