Which One of These…

Doesn’t belong? This is our home for the next week or so. We are about 40 miles NE of Anchorage close to the town of Wasilla, AK. We went into town and rented a car for the week. The truck needs a wash, but I didn’t see any Truck or even RV washes close by. It’s been raining almost every day. Not bad, and not for long. But a few showers here and there. The sun never setting is kind of hard to get used to. We’ll be doing stuff, not paying attention to the clock and all of a sudden [...More...]

The Good and the Bad

These are the good and the bad between Tok, Ak and Anchorage. About 18 miles of construction, which means dirt road, which we shared with the heavy equipment running back and forth. We delivered in Anchorage and instead of driving home empty, we now have a load from Anchorage to Arizona. Bad news: we don’t pick it up until the 12th. Good news is – we don’t pick it up till the 12th! Ten days in Alaska. The company where we are getting our load from is Graebel Van Lines! We drove to the Graebel office in Palmer (about 40 [...More...]

Tok, AK by wayne

2641 long, winding, construction filled, dirt, bumpy, mountainous, fun miles later and we’re in Alaska. 1130pm and it’s still daylight. Nothing works, no FM, no AM, no XM, no cell phones. Saw a couple of bears, moose, mountain sheep, buffalo and wild horses. INCREDIBLE scenery. We had so many pictures of beautiful lakes surrounded by mountains we quit taking pictures of lakes. I’m online now sitting across from an RV park that has WIFI. The connection sucks! I can’t upload any pictures. Will try again later. UPDATE: Finally able to upload a couple of shots.

Alaska Bound!!! by wayne

We are loading some slot machines from Vegas going to Michigan. Enroute to Michigan we are swapping trailers with another driver that doesn’t go to Canada. This load has to be in Fairbanks, AK around July 1st. We are so looking forward to this. After we cross into Canada, cell phone use will be at a minimum (roaming!) and since it’s furniture, it should be fairly light so we can get decent fuel mileage. The company bid this trip from Detroit (where it’s being loaded) to Fairbanks to Seattle. Just in case there’s no freight leaving Alaska and we have [...More...]
