I’m procrastinating getting back in the trailer and folding blankets for a new trip tomorrow morning, This is the first time in a long time I’ve had a trip back to back. I’m in Connecticut and reload in upstate NY going back west to Salt Lake City. Things are good at the moment.

With all of the new cell phones coming out, I was usually in the store the next day when I was eligible for the “free” phone upgrade. Not anymore. Cellphones have kind of peaked. They’re not getting any smaller and the features have been about the same for a couple of years. Except for Smart phones which I didn’t feel could replace my laptop and since my laptop was always with me in the truck, why spend the extra just so I could get my email a little faster? Smartphones have come down in price now and I think my free upgrade would actually be free or for very little for a Blackberry.

I’m now month to month with Verizon since my two year contract ran out and I haven’t upgraded anything. Cindy’s two years is up in September. The new Blackberry Bold is very tempting and has great reviews from almost everyone. In September we may be getting new phones and I need to look at the difference between Verizon and Sprint. Verizon service, quality and coverage has been pretty good. Sprint I think comes in second or about the same for coverage. So it may be time to switch. I may keep my laptop card Verizon only because no one gives a package deal (that I know of) so I can split services with no problem.

A Blackberry might be pretty cool. Real email everywhere, almost real browsing and the screen on the Bold is supposed to be bigger and brighter, might be worth waiting a couple of more months. It’s supposed to be at Sprint and AT&T in August and Verizon in September.

  1. I’m really looking forward to the new Blackberry. I’ve been waiting to see what Google is going to do with their cell phone operating system and the iPhone isn’t quite perfect yet. Blackberry has been the top dog for years and only getting better.

  2. Hey I found a Great FREE BlackBerry Theme Site, You Get Unlimited downloads of Awesome themes, Girls, Sports Teams, Interests and More. They even have a service where they can custom design you a Professional BlackBerry theme in about 2 days for just a small donation, check out the website. http://www.bbthemedesign.com

  3. Get ready for BB 9000. It is gona come in USA at the end of this month. Got a Email from a Canadian compnay (SNtraders) and the said that they r getting few units within few days but they didnt confirm the price but acording to them it will B around 650$

  4. I have had my hands on the Blackberry Bold and it fits nicely into the hand. I think you will all find it a lot thinner then it looks in the photos, I work for vodafone myself and have been holding out for a new smart photo, Form me it was between the Samsung i900 and the Bold. We got the i90o the other day and as good as it looks and its spec kida matches the bold. The Windows OS and slowed it rite down. Yes the i900 has the 5mp camera but you can only open the cam applications once everything else is shut down otherwise it does not have enough system memory. As always Windows Mobile’s ways of making it hard to shut down applications have spoilt i good looking high spec device. The blackberry bold has the capability to open and edit Microsoft Documents while running the BB OS that we all know it quick. BB virgins should not be put off by using a different OS as this is fantastic and after a few days you will never go back. The Bold should be in Vodafone stores on 4th September.
For people in USA and Canada whom want to buy it now.it is available online too have seen a deal on

it is a sim free and unlocked version, mean no restriction for using it with any network.

  5. I’d like to get a phone from somewhere other than Verizon because Verizon has been known to block features and they change the interface on their phones to be the same crappy user interface on all of their phones.

I want a BB as opposed to a Windows OS just because it’s MS Windows. I don’t care how great Windows Mobile is, if there’s another choice, especially the blackberrys, I’m going blackberry.

  6. I would definitely suggest going with an unlocked Blackberry. You can purchase them through a number of retailers, amazon, etc, and you can use it on any network . . . no need to wait for your wireless supplier to come out with the latest model. I’m planning on doing a review of the new Bold pretty soon and adding it to my blackberry reviews. Let me know how you like it, if you end up going that way yourself.

  7. I can get a cheap older model for a free or almost free upgrade. I like free. But I like the freedom of getting a phone somewhere else.

  8. I love Love LOVE the bold, It is a great phone, and im eagerly awaiting the New Blackberry Touch Model. Tons of free themes are being made for the bold today, and cant wait to see the developments for the Touch blackberry.
