Wow! Thank you for responding so quickly :-)
I hope I'm not bugging the "you know what" out of you, but do you think Cindy would mind elaborating on the "It's tough" part? I know she probably has very little, if NO, spare time with her studies (I've been there, so I totally relate -- attend UoP online myself) and I am not in a huge hurry for a reply :-)...so whenever she could would be great. The best to you and Cindy with both your studies and pursuit of your future careers!
Thank you SOOOOO much for responding -- we need all the insight we can get!

TMS, I was going to send an email, but might as well answer it here for others, since we get this question a lot.

>>What can we expect in compensation annually?
Depends on the company and how hard you work.
>>Is trucking and compensation steady throughout the year?
NO
>>How often do you get to go home?
Depends on the company. Sometimes every 3-4 weeks.
>>Where do you shower/bathe/sleep?
Truck stops have private showers you pay for. Sleep in the truck
>>What personal essentials do you take each haul?
Everything that will fit.
>>Does it get monotonous/boring/stressful, etc?
YES
>>What’s it like from a female perspective (if I could ask Cindy that)?
It's tough.
>>What keeps you trucking?
Truck Payments.
>>What influenced Cindy to go back to school, as opposed to keep trucking?
We weren't getting enough team loads to stay busy and the loads we were getting and even now, are barely paying the bills.

These are short answers, but are explained more throughout the site. Check out some of the sites on the sidebar and I'll try and update those with more.

Howdy, from the great state of Texas! I know, you probably don't think so at the moment if you are still hanging out in Houston! lol
It sounds like you and Cindy have had your highs and lows as team truckers -- my husband and I are seriously considering leaving our current careers (he is a Streets Foreman with the city, and I am a Human Resources professional with the county), to venture into team trucking (with a trucking company like Stevens Transport). He has trucked previously, but I have not. Some of the things I need to know in order to make my decision to do this are:
What can we expect in compensation annually?
Is trucking and compensation steady throughout the year?
How often do you get to go home?
Where do you shower/bathe/sleep?
What personal essentials do you take each haul?
Does it get monotonous/boring/stressful, etc?
What's it like from a female perspective (if I could ask Cindy that)?
What keeps you trucking?
What influenced Cindy to go back to school, as opposed to keep trucking?
I know, these are a lot of questions, but I am nearing 47 and do not want to go into this blindly, nor does my husband. But this is something he's dreamed of, and we get along so well that we THINK it would be a good move. I just need to be able to make a very informed decision on this, and GREATLY APPRECIATE any info you and Cindy could share. Thank you in advance! I will look forward to a post or even an email from you and/or Cindy. :-)
