We finished 7th in the "Cannonball Run" from San Diego to Orlando, but since it was a staggered start, I’m not sure where we started. Someone mentioned we were 2nd to leave, but I think there were a few more ahead of us. But the important thing is that we finished in time! It was a tough drive. More experienced teams mentioned how tough of a drive it was. There were a few permanant teams, but a lot of teams had a codriver fly in to San Diego, then fly home from Orlando. (Did I mention this paid really well?) Now we find out this happens four times a year, leaving next time from Orlando in January. We’re already making plans to be there.

We found out that only five loads were going back to San Diego and they were already covered. So, we spent a few days visiting Cindy’s brother and sister-in-law and then we loaded another trade show and headed for Long Island. (I love NY! BTW Good thing we were headed westbound when this happened, we drove right by it, what a mess!!!) We saw the friends we made on the Orlando trip one more time, then we loaded in New Jersey for Seattle, Sacramento and Fremont, CA.

Since the truck is less than half full, we are looking to fill up the space with more freight (aka $$$). Which will turn a good trip into a great trip! We’re headed to upstate NY to pickup something else before we head west. And still have room leftover to make a great trip into a really great trip! These LTL’s (less than truckloads) can pay well, but sometimes they can be a pain. Plus the people that paid full price for the truck, kind of frown when we put other stuff on there. So, all this extra freight has to be off the truck before we get to Seattle. It can be tricky and a coordination nightmare, but hopefully all will work out and it will be worth the headache.

You guys are going great guns. by the way, we are home now and only put on 5,300 miles in 18 days. A “tad” shy of your miles. Ed is already making plans to leave again.
