A new direction, maybe. I haven’t decided yet. I could make a brand new site for all of my political rants or just keep using this one. Because trucking is so integrated with the economy and the economy now has a bunch of idiots running it, that aren’t supposed to be running it. I believe the more the government gets involved the worse it gets and they are getting more and more involved in the markets and they have no idea what they are doing, which makes the people that do know what they’re doing, really nervous. Which causes the evil rich to stop spending money, stop making investments (at least in the US) and since most of the evil rich are small to large business owners, they are going to stop hiring us poor people to work for them, thanks to the idiots in DC.

I may just change the direction of this site more toward the economy, politics, trucking and whatever else. At the moment I’m still in the trucking business. But expect to see a little bit of everything. Since I’ve grown weary of posting about how bad trucking is, that will mean more postings, at least that’s the plan.

Ads. I do have ads on here. Adventures in Trucking isn’t my biggest money maker, but it does a little bit. Don’t want to see ads? Subscribe to the RSS feed or an email subscription. If you see an ad in the RSS feed that means someone paid a lot of money for it so I’m sure it won’t happen very often.

My Internet empire is slowly growing. I need to go back to some of my sites for a little tweaking. I’m selling domains cheaper than godaddy at Waynes Domains, which I’ve renamed to Fremont Domains, sounds a little more professional and someone already had Waynes Hosting, so I couldn’t get that and make it a pair. With Domains, I get a discount on the domains and don’t mark them up as much as Godaddy does, because I’m not expecting to get rich off of this. It’s the exact same service and support as Godaddy, just a little cheaper.

So, now I have Fremont Domains and Fremont Hosting to sell hosting services. Godaddy is great for domains, but they’re not so good with website hosting. The Hosting I sell has great hosting, but doesn’t do very well for domains. The host is from Hostgator and I’m allowed to resell the space and bandwidth I have to others. I got it mainly because I have more control, it’s cheaper in the long run and will be able to support 100 websites or more when I get to that point. It’s a better quality server than the normal “shared hosting” most everyone gets stuck on and even though it’s not a dedicated server, I have control over who gets on my part of the server.

The support at Hostgator is a lot better than where I was. I can’t compete on the space and bandwidth that the big companies give away, but those numbers are so unrealistic anyway, if you have a website that gets a lot of traffic they are going to shut you down and force you to upgrade anyway. I can offer my friends and family with websites better support, competitive pricing and very customized packages. I can beat the 7.95 price, but Hostgator has a 3.99 package that is really only for one very small site. I’ve got the best of the domains and the best of the hosting, that’s the reason for two different names.

gatrBesides, the Hostgator logo is really cool. I think that’s why I bought my truck where I did too. Gatr Volvo in Minnesota. They have a gator as their logo also. Gatr, gator… I’m not sure what Gatr stands for, but it’s pretty cool.

I could offer the cheap hosting that godaddy does on the same Fremont Domains site, but I took hosting completely off the menu because I was telling everyone to ignore the hosting there anyway. Even for cheap, cheap hosting packages, you can’t beat Hostgator.

I haven’t really marketed the domains or the hosting much because they are more for personal use, the domains are ready for marketing, but the hosting isn’t yet. I’m in no rush and when it is ready an email will go out to all the people I know that have domains and (self-hosted) websites to convince everyone to switch over, someday.

Expect some things to change and some will stay the same.
